The leader of the ERC, Oriol Junqueras, has ensured that “no politically complex issue is resolved unilaterally” and has defended the dialogue table with the Government.

He said this this Monday in an interview with ‘Onda Cero’, in which he added that If the Government “does not show a willingness to dialogue, it is good that the citizens see it that way”.

Junqueras has asked the Executive led by Pedro Sánchez if it has a proposal for Catalonia “to do it” and has underlined the importance of not having one. “We are willing to try the negotiation route sincerely”, he pointed out, later assuring that The question of the independence of Catalonia is fully valid.

Thus, he explained that he works for a Catalan republic as he is “convinced that it is the best for the vast majority of citizens, including Spanish citizens.”

“The Catalans will decide”

Junqueras has ensured that Catalans have the right to decide their political future and has been convinced that “the Catalans will end up deciding their future”. He also recalled his defense that major issues be resolved multilaterally and underlined his desire for a negotiation process to overcome the political conflict.

He has pointed out thator objective is “a referendum or any democratic mechanism”, something that, he assured, other countries in the world have done before Catalonia.

In addition, he has insisted on his hope that things are going well for Spain too and has ensured that if there is any Spaniard who does not want Catalonia to do well, it is because “they are not aware” of the relations between the two actors.

Labour reform

The leader of the ERC has said that it is “clear that we are light years away from the PSOE in many things” and has assured that if you don’t change the labour reform, your party will vote against. In this sense, he has pointed out that the Government’s proposal “does not reform anything” and, literally, leaves things as they are to a great extent.

Among the issues that he has demanded to modify are strengthen labor inspectionoo combat bias in contracts. “It is clear that we have different priorities,” said Junqueras, who has defined these issues as important.
