“With an average temperature of 21.4 degrees, we are heading for the warmest month of August since the measurements began (in 1833, ed.)”, Dehenauw writes on Twitter. The previous record dates back to 1997, with an average temperature of 21.2 degrees.
If the forecasts for the rest of the month are correct, the summer of 2022 with an average temperature of 19.6 degrees will also be the third warmest summer on record. Only in 2018 and 2003 was it even warmer in the period from June to August, with an average of 19.9 and 19.7 degrees.
