‘We are going to renovate the decor’

The talk show Op1 suddenly goes on a summer break this year. The makers want to renovate the decor now that BNNVARA has left. “And bring the editorial team up to strength.”

Things are rumbling behind the scenes of Op1, because chief bobo Bert Huisjes seems to have behaved impossible, as a result of which several employees have resigned and BNNVARA has even stepped down as a participating broadcaster. There are now three broadcasters left, EO, Omroep MAX and WNL, and they want to continue with the three of them.

New Op1 boss

The broadcasting trio has agreed ‘in good consultation’ with the NPO to make a ‘journalistic, pluriform and distinctive program’, it writes. AD Today. “The three broadcasters have decided to appoint one editor-in-chief from this fall.”

Now someone else is in charge every broadcast night, but that will change. Who will be the new editor-in-chief? Not Bert Huisjes? “Conversations with candidates will take place this summer.”

Still on summer break

It is also striking that Op1 is still going on a summer break. Actually, they would run all summer long and the BNNVARA duo Ambert Kortzorg and Natasja Gibbs would kick off with two uninterrupted weeks of broadcasting. All of that is no longer happening.

How about that? The AD writes: “The broadcasters, in consultation with the NPO, want to use the summer to bring the editorial team up to strength. The program also wants to make improvements to the decor, for which an adjustment and minor renovation is necessary.”

July 17

The summer break starts on July 17 and lasts for a month. And that is of course good news for competitors Renze Klamer and Hélène Hendriks. They then have one less talk show to compete with when it comes to attracting guests.

Op1 has to start again on Monday 21 August, from a modified decor. It is not yet known whether the talk show will again put an audience in the decor.
