Katrin Eckermann won the show jumping title for the first time at the German Championships in Balve.
The 32-year-old from Sassenberg won on Saturday in the Sauerland in the saddle of Cascadello-Boy after three laps and a jump-off. Eckermann prevailed in the decisive round against Tina Deuerer from Bretten with Clueso, who had a knockdown. Third was Angelique Rüsen from Marl with Calvino, who missed the jump-off with two penalty points.
Defending champion Sophie Hinners had to settle for tenth place. The rider from Dagobertshausen in Hesse received eight penalty points with her new horse Million Dollar. Unlike international championships, there is a separate ranking for women at the DM.
There are two more title decisions on Sunday. In dressage, the freestyle (11:00 a.m.) is on the program. In two more rounds (2.15 p.m.) a new champion will also be determined for the show jumpers. Last year’s winner Tobias Meyer is riding at the same Nations Cup tournament in Sopot, Poland.
