Dorothee Schneider beat top favorite Isabell Werth in the first test of the German Dressage Championships in Balve.
The 53-year-old from Framersheim won the Grand Prix in the Showtime saddle on Friday. Schneider won with 82.360 percent, well ahead of Werth (Rheinberg) with Quantaz (80.160). Third was Frederic Wandres from Hagen am Teutoburger Wald with Duke of Britain (78.020).
Title decisions in dressage will be made in the special on Saturday (10.30 a.m.) and in the freestyle on Sunday (11 a.m.). Due to the absence of Jessica von Bredow-Werndl there will be no title defense in Balve. Last year’s double winner is pausing because of her pregnancy.
