Wayne Gretzky’s jersey from the decisive match of the 1988 Stanley Cup finals has been auctioned for $ 1.452 million (approximately $ 1.350 million). Sportsnet and ESPN, among others, reported the matter.

The Gray Flannel Auctions auction made history, as the price of a shirt stained with Gretzky’s festive champagne beat Paul Hendersonin Summit series 1972, for which $ 1.3 million was paid in due course.

Under the leadership of “Ysiysin”, the Oilers took a 4-0 lead in the Boston Bruins finals. The fourth match is remembered for a power outage in Boston Garden, which resulted in the match being suspended and rescheduled for replay in Edmonton. That game was handled 6–3 by the then NHL dynasty club.

The match was last for Gretzky in the Oilers. Just three months later, the reigning Conn Smythe winner was blindly traded to the Los Angeles Kings.
