Water-saving toilet decides for itself how much to flush | My Guide

After the shower, the toilet is the biggest water guzzler in the house and that weighs on our bill. It is true that more and more toilets are connected to rainwater, but in dry periods it often does not take long before it is empty and a switch has to be made to city water.

What applies to our planet also applies to our home: water is a scarce and precious commodity. With that in mind, they developed the Buddy device at IPEE. It is a toilet assistant that uses smart technology. Based on sensors and parameters, the amount of water needed to clean the bowl is determined after each visit to the toilet. This way, a lot less is consumed, which is good for the planet and our wallet.

Buddy, recently awarded a Henry Van de Velde award, is integrated into a toilet furniture as a flush plate. There are no push buttons, because the operation is contactless and therefore more hygienic. An indirect light functions as a night light in the dark. Buddy is available at various toilets and costs 399 euros.
