Final Race-2 with a thousand emotions, breaks and counter-breaks: Renzuto decides with 50 “from the end (13-12), on Saturday the last challenge for the Scudetto
Whether we go to beauty, beyond the cheering of this or that (and the legitimate regrets of the losers), is good news for Italian waterpolo: what a spectacle this final. Brescia and Pro Recco, in race-2, give life to one of the most exciting games in the history of the playoffs. The Italian champions win by measure, just as it happened in Punta Sant’Anna with reversed parts: “This team has a big heart and has shown it again” Sandro Bovo exults to RaiSport’s microphones, after 13-12 with which extends the series. It takes another 32 minutes to see who the Scudetto will go to.

It had been a tense eve, after the substantial correctness of race-1 held on Saturday. Brescia – even without mentioning it in the official announcements – claimed an irregularity in the final seconds, which came out through the television images: on 9-8 for the Ligurians, Aicardi and Nicholas Presciutti were expelled, but only the latter left the field. “Interference” by the center to be sanctioned with a penalty, which escaped the referees and the Lombards themselves (failed superiority on that action), who should have appealed within 30 minutes. Out of time, therefore, the complaint for technical error was rejected by the Federal Court of Appeal as inadmissible. This is the yellow of the first leg. The return is a crazy duel made up of breaks and counter-breaks, in the pit of the Mompiano pool, in front of the coach Campagna, between inevitable hard blows: the Recco starts better in the first half (2-4) also thanks to the different percentage of realization with the extra man (0 out of 3 and 2 out of 2), he goes back to Brescia with tenacity often using the double center and putting in a 3-0 which at the end of the second half is worth overtaking on 7-6 (Di Somma, Renzuto, Dolce ). The same set that makes the European champions re-emerge in the third quarter (Younger and two penalties by Zalanki), then closed at 8-10. Last 8 ‘with my heart in my throat. After the fantastic Bedouin of Dolce at two meters, the score is only in numerical superiority: the Pro Recco still finds itself on +2 on two occasions (9-11 and 10-12), but the final 4 ‘are in the sign of lions through the goals of Dolce himself, of Luongo and (to -50 ”) of Renzuto. Even the formation of Sukno at the last attack can enjoy the extra man, but Tesanovic is formidable to reject first the shot of the Montenegrin compatriot Ivovic and then that of Figlioli.

There is no need for the beauty in the final for third place: Savona, after the 15-10 with which they had imposed themselves in Trieste, wins 12-8 at home and hits the Champions League qualifiers. In the challenge for fifth place, Ortigia wins 8-6 on the Telimar Palermo field after losing 10-9 at home: on Saturday the beautiful in Syracuse, whoever wins goes to the Euro Cup.
