Water fun and selfie hotspot: this is what the new fountain in the Stadshart looks like (VIDEO)

The water element, or the fountain, on the Promenadeplein is ready and switched on. The water is a great attraction for children and pets, because walking between the jets without getting wet is a nice trick. From the terrace you have a nice view of the people and the water.

Work on the Promenadeplein started in October. The square has been given new paving with clinker bricks and guide stones for the blind, and new gutters. The water is in a well from where it is led to the sprayers via red hoses.

Tree and a nice seat

The fountain consists of 20 spouts that create a playful effect with vertical jets. The shape of the Zoetermeerse Meerpolder is reflected in the design. Natural stone bands enclose the water element and natural stone has been laid in the center of the fountain. A tree has been replanted and tree benches provide a nice seat while shopping. Around the square are the terraces of Doppio and Bagels & Beans where you can enjoy people watching.

In addition to being a fun playground for young and old, passers-by are already using the fountain as a selfie hotspot. Summer photos guaranteed!
