Patrick Bruel was taken into custody in France on Monday morning for questioning in an investigation into allegations of rape and sexual assault. The broadcasters BFM TV and France Info report this based on judicial sources.
Investigations into allegations of sexual violence have been ongoing against the 67-year-old French singer for some time. According to French media, several charges have been filed against him. Bruel is now being interrogated about a number of these matters.
The singer has always denied the accusations. His lawyers said in a statement that Bruel had already indicated for some time that he was available for justice and that he will cooperate with the investigation.
The French police can arrest a suspect in a so-called garde a vue held for questioning for a maximum of 48 hours.
