But for years Waspo Hanover has been digging the water out of Spandau water lovers. The self-confidence sank, the archrival won the championship three times in a row. This should end in 2023.
Spandau President Hagen Stamm (62): “Hannover has lost world-class players, we’ve strengthened ourselves tremendously and are the best team in years. It will be very difficult to beat us. We will win the championship and the cup this year.”
What makes him so optimistic: “We beat Waspo twice this season. In Hanover in the Supercup, then with us in the Bundesliga. 1st place before the playoffs will not be taken away from us. Three years in Hanover are enough,” says Stamm.
What makes Spandau so strong? “We have a very broad team, and we can cope very well with absences due to illness and injuries. And the new coach Athanasios Kechagias gave tremendous momentum in terms of motivation. A very important factor.”
And internationally? “The Champions League is difficult. The goal is to win a few games.”
