The Drents Overijsselse Delta water board started the spring inspection of the dykes this week. Since yesterday, inspectors have been checking the dikes in the area.
They check whether the dikes have survived the winter well and where repair work may be necessary. This year extra attention will be paid to possible damage caused by the high water of earlier this year.
The check is now taking place, because the grass and other vegetation is still short. This makes damage easier to see.
The inspection lasts five to six weeks.
