The Classic ended in a 1-1 draw. With former wrestler Bert Kops Jr. we watched the match in a café in Purmerend. Beforehand, the born Amsterdammer was convinced of a good outcome. “Ajax is in a difficult phase, but they are going to beat Feyenoord”, it sounded before the match.
Yet Ajax soon found out and the team from Amsterdam played a bad first half. “It was dramatic. I actually didn’t see anything good,” was the bartender’s comment.
The Ajax fans seemed to accept defeat, but out of nowhere it became 1-1. In the café the discharge was therefore great and people believed for a moment in a victory. That did not happen, but afterwards Kops continues to believe in a championship. “Happy with one point. Now the gap with Feyenoord remains five points. I’m going to tell you. We are Ajax, we are the best and become champions.”
