Watch out in the sun: you can burn within half an hour

Enjoy Easter brunch in the sun or go wild at Paaspop with a drink in your hand. It can be easy this long weekend, with predicted temperatures of around 20 degrees. However, be careful, because the strong sun can easily burn you, Weerplaza warns.

“In the coming days, the sun power will be 4. That means that with unprotected skin you can burn in half an hour,” says meterologist Diana Woei.

Sun power refers to the amount of ultraviolet radiation in the air. So it is not important how hot it is. “The sun’s strength depends on the position of the sun. The higher it is in the sky, the higher it is. Especially between one and four o’clock in the afternoon you have to be careful and apply yourself or stay out of the sun,” says Woei.

Our skin is also not used to much yet. “Due to the cold start of April, we haven’t seen much sun yet. In March we had a lot of sun hours, but then the sun power was 2 or 3. Then you can sit in the sun longer.”
