Residents of nursing homes in Valkenswaard could enjoy a beautiful illuminated tractor parade on Saturday evening. About forty tractors decorated with Christmas lights drove through the village. It is the second time the tour has been held. “We wanted to do something fun for the residents and they welcomed that idea with open arms,” says co-organizer Teun Schellekens.
“Most farmers who participate come from the Valkenswaard area,” says Schellekens, who is a dairy farmer himself. The initiative arose because corona led to adapted celebrations of the holidays, especially in nursing homes.
There will certainly be a third trip, says Schellekens. “The Saturday before Christmas again, December 21, 2024,” he says enthusiastically.
The residents received hot chocolate and the participants in the parade had a drink and a sausage sandwich ready at the end.
