Waste processor Milieu Service from Diemen voted best company of the year

Waste processor Milieu Service Diemen has been voted the best company of this year. The Diemens company defeated Burgers Carrosserie from Aalsmeer and Kinderopvang Berend Botje from Zwaag during the award ceremony for the Enterprise Election 2022 in the Philharmonie in Haarlem. The election is a recognition of good entrepreneurship and is awarded annually. The jury praised Milieu Service for its efforts to process waste in a responsible manner.

Milieu Service wants to unburden its customers as much as possible and at the same time make it clear what happens to all the waste. The company started in 1986 and has been growing for years due to the increased attention to recycling. About 300 people are now working on waste processing.

Director Dennis Ostendorf, who started out as an intern, sees winning the election as icing on the cake and confirmation of their way of working. “We are Diemen’s best kept secret”, Dennis describes the company. “It’s about the customers being able to do their job and Milieu Service ensures in the background that all waste is collected and processed correctly.”

In the production hall, the bales of old paper are piled high before they are finally processed into cardboard boxes or toilet paper. And the plastic waste also finds its way to recycling. In addition to the large companies with a lot of turnover and staff, there were also winners in other categories. Among medium-sized companies, the title went to the eco-friendly Marcel’s Green Soap and among the small SME companies the choice fell on Drystack from Velsen.

Among the starters, Tommy Tomato is seen as a ‘promise’ for the future, which we will probably hear a lot about. The public has been allowed to vote online for his or her favorite in recent weeks and Tommy Tomato received the most votes. The company provides hot meals at school to encourage children to eat more vegetables. Parents pay according to ability.
