Fires were set on two viaducts over the A28 near Rouveen late last night. In both cases it was accumulated trash that caught fire. According to a bystander, part of it fell down on the highway. As far as we know, this has not led to any accidents.
The fire brigade quickly had the fires on the viaducts under control. The reasons for both arsons are not known.
On Monday evening, a fire was also set near the A28, on the verge between Meppel and Staphorst. The fires were part of a protest action. The highway was closed in both directions. The fire brigade was allegedly pelted with fireworks while extinguishing the fire that evening. The Safety Region has reported this.
