Waspo Hannover is German water polo champion for the third time in a row. The Lower Saxony won the fourth game of the best-of-five series against record title holders Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 with 16:9 (3:0.5:3.4:3.4:3). It was the necessary third victory for Hannover’s ninth title.
The game in the outdoor pool of the Volksbad Limmer was practically decided at halftime. In coach Karsten Seehafer’s winning team, Ivan Nagaev (4) and Julian Real (3), who was retiring, were the top scorers; at Spandau, Marin Restovic (3), Yannek Chiru and Denis Strelezkij (2 each) scored best.
