A new trailer for Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” is causing excitement. In the animated clip it looks as if the Quadriga, the historic four-in-hand carriage, is being removed from the Brandenburg Gate.
Specifically, the video shows a crane transporting the Quadriga onto a truck and finally replacing the four-in-hand vehicle with a huge bicorne. But what seems real in the trailer is ultimately just a memory of a historical event and actually happened.
The new clip is a nod to Napoleon’s Quadriga robbery after the victory against Prussia in 1806. It wasn’t until 1814 that the Quadriga returned to the site. The modern film technology uses the scene to advertise the new historical film by director Ridley Scott.

The film, which opens in Germany on November 23rd, takes a closer look at Napoleon’s rise to power, his problematic marriage to Joséphine de Beauharnais and his six famous battles. The French general and emperor is played by Joaquin Phoenix in the film.
