Heidi Klum also had to overcome resistance when she started out as a model. “Nobody wanted me in Paris and Milan,” said the 50-year-old in an interview with “Glamour” magazine. “I was too happy for them, never super thin. I was even labeled as too fat. It was the time of heroin chic. I didn’t fit in there.” The so-called heroin chic refers to the fact that models looked almost as thin and emaciated as drug addicts.
She was very lucky, said Klum. “It’s funny: The people from back then all feel like they’re no longer there – including many of the models I worked with. I am still here. At the end of the day I’m glad that everything turned out the way it did. Otherwise I might have quit a long time ago.”
The entrepreneur can currently be seen with the 19th season of her show ‘Germany’s Next Topmodel’ (GNTM) on ProSieben.
