Was Thomas Tuchel offered an immediate departure from FC Bayern? This new version of events surprised the German record champions’ game against RB Leipzig (2-1).
“Sky” presenter Sebastian Hellmann described the information in the run-up to the game, which he played together with record national player Lothar Matthäus and Olympic champion Tabea Kemme. “Our version of the conversation is: You can leave now or stay until May,” said the journalist, referring to Tuchel’s crucial meeting with those responsible at FC Bayern.
This reading is not undisputed. “Bild” picked up Hellmann’s statement after the game. Citing its own research, it was said that there had been no such offer from FC Bayern to Tuchel.
Instead, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and the current head coach decided to separate at the end of the season in a conversation on Tuesday. The club officially announced the decision on Wednesday.
Before the duel against RB, Tuchel at least did not clearly contradict rumors that if he suffered further defeats he would be threatened with early dismissal during the season. “We published a report on Wednesday that actually left no questions unanswered. But it doesn’t surprise me that this is now an issue again before the ball has rolled for a minute. I can’t look into the future,” he explained on ” Sky” microphone.
FC Bayern’s winless streak ends
At least FC Bayern’s winless streak of three competitive games ended against RB. Goal scorer Harry Kane (56./90.+1) put together a brace for the Munich team, Benjamin Sesko (70.) scored for the guests from Saxony to equalize.
