The ANWB and Rijkswaterstaat warn that we will most likely experience a very heavy evening rush hour tonight. Due to the weather conditions, among other things, it seems that things will get stuck, especially at the known bottlenecks.
The rush hour on Tuesday and Thursday is normally a lot heavier than on the other days of the week, but today there is a warning of an extremely heavy rush hour due to the expected rain. During the evening rush hour, according to Buienradar, a large front with rain will pass over North Holland.
It was this morning even busy on the roads. Due to accidents, it was stuck on the N247 from Volendam towards the A10 in Amsterdam. The delay there increased to about seventy minutes after an accident happened near the entrance to the highway.
It also got stuck on the A9. The delay between the Kooimeer junction and the Velsen junction was up to an hour. Due to an accident, only one lane was open in the Wijkertunnel, meaning people had to join the traffic jam at the back.
No end to the rain for now
According to NH weatherman Jan Visser, it will not stop raining anytime soon. “Showers may also develop elsewhere in the province this afternoon and evening,” Visser predicted this morning. “Possibly with thunder and hail.”
Rain is also expected tomorrow, although the sun will most likely show itself every now and then.
