According to the Verdi services union, employees of DHL Home Delivery GmbH will stop working on Thursday at the Staufenberg and Braunschweig locations. The one-day warning strike in the logistics centers begins at 6 a.m. and ends around 10 p.m. The actions serve to enforce the demands of the union in the current collective bargaining round.

Verdi charges its members 75 euros more per month and an additional increase in fees of eight percent. According to Verdi, the employer did not submit an offer in the second round of negotiations on Tuesday and Wednesday either.

DHL Home Delivery GmbH is a subsidiary of Deutsche Post DHL with 1400 employees. Deutsche Post generated record profits of almost eight billion euros last year.

"Hourly wages for warehouse workers are below the future minimum wage of 12 euros. Added to this are the price increases of the last few months. The demands are absolutely justified", said Thomas Warner, head of the post, forwarding and logistics department at Verdi Lower Saxony-Bremen. (dpa)
