The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) warns of thunderstorms that will pass over our province on Tuesday. Code yellow was issued for a large part of the country before the end of the afternoon and a large part of the evening.

According to the weather institute, the thunderstorms are moving from the southwest to the northeast. Wind gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour can occur. “Later in the evening most showers disappear again,” according to the KNMI.

Rijkswaterstaat expects a busy evening rush hour, partly due to the weather conditions. This is based on a maximum of four hundred kilometers of traffic jams on the highways.

More recent warnings have been issued for thunderstorms. Strong thunderstorms passed over our province, especially on May 19. Code orange was even announced at the time. The storm caused a lot of inconvenience. A day later, code yellow was again issued for thunderstorms. Then it was great.
