Warm-up AZ is waiting for the first test with a ‘real topper’ against FC Twente

The first real squatter is waiting for AZ in the competition. Trainer Pascal Jansen even wants to label Sunday’s meeting with FC Twente as a ‘real topper’. “Screenly remove that word,” said Jansen, who has already played twelve official matches with AZ. “It remains to be seen whether that is an advantage.”

The infirmary at AZ has been quite full in recent weeks. Vangelis Pavlidis stumbled across the training complex today with crutches and a fully taped ankle. The Greek striker will not be in action for the time being. Captain Bruno Martins Indi had a setback in his recovery and Jesper Karlsson is still training separately from the group. Opposite this is the return of Riechedly Bazoer and a fit Zinho Vanheusden.

In recent matches, Jens Odgaard filled in the striker position and Jansen kept the young talent Yusuf Barasi behind. “It is still a search for coordination,” says Jansen about Odgaard’s functioning during rush hour. “It is an interaction between Jens and Yusuf”, Jansen explains about the choice in the point of the attack.
