Warm bath for Ukrainian Natalia in Beverwijk: “Thank you, on behalf of my people”

A moral boost. That was the expression of support of 150 Beverwijkers for Ukraine. Natalia Kulinich, a Ukrainian who left her country twenty years ago, thanked those present on behalf of her compatriots. “Great that you did this. I’m very, very happy.”

Natalia gave an emotional speech. Afterwards, she said that her mind kept wandering to her mother during the speech. He lives near Lviv and has set up an air-raid shelter with the neighbors and provided it with sufficient supplies and clean water. “It’s very exciting for her, some bombs have fallen not so far from her. But they keep themselves well and find support in each other. My mother does not have a husband, but the neighbors take very good care of her. They eat together, they are really very strong.”

Organizer Teun-Jan Tabak was happy that he had been able to give Natalia the moral boost. “We put this together in a short time because we just felt that something had to be done. I am politically active myself, but this meeting had to be separate from politics. This is really to show our solidarity.”

Natalia gets a lot of questions from her compatriots about how they view the situation in our country. “I always say that the people in the Netherlands are great. That they collect things and that even Dutch people want to fight against Russia. That is really a support for them. Tonight I will also send them the photos and videos of this evening. They will be very happy with it. Thank you very much.”
