Waregemnaar (81) strongest at World Weightlifting Championships
Jozef Lazou managed to pull 55 kg and thrust 63 kg. With that he trumped his opponents in the category over 80 years and weight under 81 kg. The native of Waregem also became European champion in the spring and already won the world title in December. He still has to blow out 82 candles this year.
Before he will undoubtedly receive a warm welcome at home, the eighty-year-old will stay another week at the World Masters Weightlifting Championship in Poland to help as a referee.
