Waregem Sport is committed to car-free swimming

Last year, Waregem Sport took part in a major public survey among 238 swimming pools in Flanders and the Netherlands. From that survey, it was able to extract the strengths and use them. On the one hand, it wants to keep customer-friendliness and cleanliness at the right level, and the catering industry also scores well with the public.

Mindset change

In addition to the strong points, there are also working points. The survey shows that the majority of visitors travel to swimming pool De Treffer by car. Alderman of Sport Kristof Chanterie says that he has developed a large campaign image: “The intention is to create a change of mentality among our customers. We want to encourage people not to come to the swimming pool or sports center by car.” According to the alderman, a car park without cars is a utopia, but he still wants to contribute to making people aware of this. Alderman for mobility Philip Himpe agrees: “We only welcome such campaigns from the point of view of mobility.” It is the start of an entire campaign. Through various campaigns, Waregem Sport wants to focus more on car-free sports in the coming year in order to reduce the high percentage of visitors by car.
