Waregem decides to continue the Elegance Tour
Earlier this week there was doubt whether or not to allow the classic Elegance Tour for carriages and riders in Waregem, which is part of the PreCongé celebrations, to take place. This is due to the high temperatures of last week. The mayor, who is responsible for animal welfare, gave the green light yesterday after conducting the necessary consultations and seeking expert advice.
changeable and clouds
As the Weather Station Waregem predicted, we had to deal with a changeable weather picture and regular cloud fields on Sunday morning. During the day the mercury rose to 25 degrees. So no reason not to get the horses and carriages out of the stable for this event. Unfortunately, the long lack of clarity caused many participants to drop out.
Shadow and water
The beautifully made carriages paraded through the city center for the eleventh time. The horses and drivers themselves also looked great and dressed up in style. The horses could shelter in the shade under the trees in the Baron Casier park. The city had also provided sufficient water connection. The judging of the carriages took place in the park, where it is a lot cooler than on the Markt.
Spectators could enjoy free tours with the city carriage with the whole family. Children could also take a ride on a pony.
