War in Ukraine: Massive Attack help with art sale

Graffiti artist and Massive Attack member Robert “3D” Del Naja is selling prints of his work online to donate the proceeds to the Disasters Emergency Committee – and in turn, to Ukraine.

On March 8, the band launched the campaign on Twitter, but due to the great demand, they did it again: Prints of two of the artist’s works are now for sale. Both are in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The aesthetics of the works reflect Del Naja’s style and are vaguely reminiscent of the cover design of his British band Massive Attack. No wonder: before the artist from Bristol got involved musically, he was responsible for the artwork of the albums.

The art prints are sold at £150 each and are all signed by Del Naja, who has recently been suspected of being Banksy. You can register until March 22nd. on his site be acquired.

This is not the first charitable art sale that the 57-year-old has organized: in 2020 he was already socially involved with the Food Union in his hometown by donating the proceeds from a print sale to them.

Del Naja has often commented on the Ukraine war on Instagram in recent weeks. Specifically, he addressed the grievances that Ukrainian refugees encountered when entering Great Britain. He posted a picture with the caption: “Don’t wave flags. Waive visas.” Translated, this means something like: “Don’t wave any flags, but drop the visa rule.” This statement alludes to the fact that refugees have to apply for a visa to enter Great Britain. The post, which was addressed directly to the Home Office and Secretary of State Priti Patel, garnered a round of applause from followers.

However, the band around Del Naja is not only busy with political and social commitments, but also with tour preparations. The tour starts this summer in Germany, where the Brits will play three concerts.
