Images of the war in Ukraine can be intense for people who have fled. They also notice this at the Syrian Women’s Group Emmen, where the war is also the talk at the table.
Nour Saadi, chairman of the Syrian Women’s Group Emmen himself comes from the Syrian city of Aleppo, which was also bombed by Russia a few years ago. “For me and for everyone else it is painful to see the images. The trauma then resurfaces again,” she says.
The women’s group consists of a diverse group, with women from Syria as well as women from Yemen, Egypt and Iraq. The members organize all kinds of activities in Emmen and the surrounding area to connect cultures.
