One million euros to tell the people of Ukraine, Ferrari is close to you. The house from Maranello, the most famous car brand on the planet, has decided to donate the sum to refugees fleeing the war that broke out after the invasion by Russia.

Ferrari has allocated the sum to Emilia-Romagna which in turn, in collaboration with the Red Cross and UNHCR (the UN organization that deals with refugees), will use them for projects in support of Ukraine and reception of refugees in the region. Other aid will be donated to the Onlus Association Chernobyl to support the people who will be hosted in the towns near the Maranello plant.

stop to production

In addition to the donation, Ferrari has decided to suspend the production of vehicles for the Russian market “until further notice”, according to the company’s statement. A symbolic – but also concrete – way to say “no” to the aggression of a third country which has triggered a conflict which has so far already caused thousands of victims – including civilians – and which risks leading the whole of Europe to war. “Ferrari is close to the Ukrainian population at this terrible time,” said CEO Benedetto Vigna. “We cannot remain helpless in the face of the suffering of the affected civilians. Our hirers and our solidarity go to them. We are ready to do our small part alongside those institutions that bring concrete relief to the humanitarian drama”.

Ferrari is no stranger to initiatives for people in need. In the first days of the Coronavirus pandemic, between February and March 2020, they spent relentlessly in Maranello: production of respirators to donate to hospitals, cash donations to buy Covid tests, school tools and shopping vouchers, free tests for employees and family members.
