Wannes Destoop TV series sold to American public broadcaster
The series will therefore soon be shown on 350 local TV stations in the US. Albatross is about ten obese people at a weight loss camp in the Ardennes. The series was shown on Canvas, but has meanwhile also been broadcast in German-speaking Europe, and will soon be on television in the Czech Republic, among others.
“These sales are really special for us as creators, as they confirm the international appeal and universal themes of the series,” says director Wannes Destoop. The series was conceived by Destoop and actor Dominique Van Malder. The latter also plays in the series, alongside other well-known names such as Ruth Beeckmans, Benny Claessens, Joris Hessels and Janne Desmet. Last year the series won the Prix Europa media prize for best fiction series.
