The stray cat who was a regular guest at Avans University of Applied Sciences in Breda for many years has passed away. The animal, called Luta by the employees and students of the school, died suddenly, Avans said in a message on Facebook.
Luta first appeared in the bushes near the Hogeschoollaan in Breda about five years ago. “No one could pet her, she just blew and scratched people. She looked bad and had ticks,” said Nathalie Broeders, the school’s facility officer in a video Avans made about the famous cat last year. actually put her to sleep, but then we decided to take care of her ourselves.”
Luta was cared for every day by Avans employees. She was given food and fresh water twice a day and students also fed the animal. “A colleague has spent a lot of time on his knees to tame her. Luta has really become a house cat.”

Many students react under the message about the death of the Avanskat. “How sad! I was always welcomed by her when I went back to work,” writes Marije. “Oh no… She was such a sweetheart… I’m going to miss her,” says Isa, who shares a photo of herself with the cat with her message.
Avanskat Luta was cremated on Wednesday.
