Walruses normally live among the drift ice in the Arctic Ocean. It is therefore quite exceptional that one has strayed to the North Sea. This walrus was first spotted on the beach of Petten in North Holland. There the colossus was given the name Thor. From Petten Thor traveled to Neeltje Jans in Zeeland and then rested on the beach of Westkapelle. From the Netherlands he then swam further towards France, where he stranded in Dieppe. Today he turned up in Scarborough, which means that Thor has quietly swam past our coast again.
