Walmart wants to hire over 50,000 new employees in the USA

The largest US retailer Walmart wants to hire tens of thousands of new employees as it expands its online business and other expansion plans. The company announced on Wednesday that it intends to hire more than 50,000 employees in the United States in the current fiscal quarter – i.e. by the end of April. These include a number of tech jobs with which Walmart wants to accelerate the change from classic retail to e-commerce and compete with Amazon. With around 1.6 million employees, Walmart is already the largest private employer in the USA. The group has around 2.3 million employees worldwide. (dpa)
