The mayor of Ciney, Frédéric Deville, (ex-MR) was attacked on Wednesday by the husband of his first alderman Anne Pirson (Les Engagés). The man had “just discovered that his wife was cheating on him with the mayor”. Deville – who was seriously injured in the attack – has filed a complaint against his love rival for assault and assault.
The mayor was found “with blood on his face” in the parking lot of the cultural center, near the town hall. “When he was about to get back into his car for a board meeting, he was stopped by the husband of Anne Pirson, the city’s first alderman,” a resident revealed to Sudpresse.
According to local media, the man had “just discovered that his wife was cheating on him”. “This relationship has been going on for several months and is an open secret,” it sounds in the city. The man allegedly punched the mayor several times. Deville was not hospitalized, but was “seriously injured” and has some “severe bruises”. The doctor has prescribed him 15 days of sick leave, so that the second alderman, Jean-Marc Gaspard, fills in as acting mayor.
Pirson has not yet commented, “because she was overwhelmed by events”. The mayor also declined to comment on a “private matter”. Deville would have already filed a complaint against his rival for “assault and assault”. This is confirmed by the lawyer of the cheated husband. According to him, his client “got carried away, but that is understandable from a human point of view”.
