Walloon government allocates extra funds for municipalities affected by floods | Interior

In 2022, the Walloon government had provided global funding of 25 million euros for the affected municipalities. “However, taking into account the new estimates of local needs for the purchase and demolition of housing, we have decided to increase the amounts for the affected municipalities,” said Willy Borsus, Walloon Minister for Spatial Planning. A total of just over 82 million euros is now provided.

Furthermore, the Walloon government approved the list of 46 reconstruction interventions in the Vesdre valley, the so-called ‘Quick Wins’, for an amount of 15 million. These works aim to carry out an adequate and sustainable reconstruction while limiting future risks, said Celine Tellier, Minister of the Environment. She recalled that a total of 453 million is foreseen for restoring the banks and other adjustments.
