The Walloon majority regularly points the finger at the PVDA because of all Walloon parties, the party spends the most money on advertisements on social media. The government is now setting a ceiling of 50 percent of all campaign spending. That ceiling will apply during the next local and provincial elections in 2024.
The decision is part of a wider exercise to reorganize local elections in Wallonia. The electoral cantons will also be abolished and the Walloon government will take measures to improve the security of the voting process.
