Wallaby is dead in the ditch but it’s not the wallaby from Wouw

A dead wallaby was found on Sunday in a ditch in Biezenmortel. Animal Ambulance Brabant Noord-Oost is urgently looking for the owner because she has no idea who the animal may be. One thing she knows for sure, this is not the wallaby that escaped in Wouw last week.

“The animal found is an albino wallaby. The escaped wallaby in Wouw has a different color. We have been in contact with the owner about this,” says spokesperson Rens van Lieshout of Dierenambulance Brabant Noord-Oost.

Wouw is more than seventy kilometers away, according to Van Lieshout they cannot bridge that distance in such a short time.

“It makes the most sense that the animal belongs to someone from the area Biezenmortel.”

“Judging by the injuries, the animal was hit and then fell into the dry ditch. The animal is someone’s property, it is not a wild animal,” says Van Lieshout. That’s why she’s looking for the owner. The animal must be kept for fourteen days, which is stipulated by law when it comes to a pet. The Animal Ambulance keeps the animal in a freezer until the owner reports.

“It makes the most sense that the animal belongs to someone from the Biezenmortel area, but no one has reported to us yet.”

If that does not happen, the wallaby is taken to rendering company Rendac. People who know who the animal belongs to can report to the Animal Ambulance at number 085-273 8899.
