An 81-year-old walker was attacked and seriously injured by two loose dogs in a wooded area in Hohen Neuendorf (Oberhavel).

The two off-leash dogs jumped at the walker in the incident on Saturday and bit his forearms, police reported on Sunday. The man suffered significant injuries.

The 68-year-old dog owner did not restrain the animals from the attack and walked away after a brief chat with the 81-year-old, police said.

The woman was located shortly afterwards by police officers. A preliminary investigation into negligent bodily harm was initiated against the dog owner.
