Surprise leader SV Elversberg stumbled into the 3rd football league on the way to the lower house.
After 16 points from the previous six games, the sovereign table leader suffered his fourth defeat of the season with a 1:2 (1:0) at Waldhof Mannheim, but after the second game in a row without a win he still has a 15 point lead over the first non-promotion place.
With its eleventh home win, Mannheim moved up to this position to within one point of VfL Osnabrück on the relegation rank. Second in the table SC Freiburg II is not allowed to move up.
After his early lead through an own goal by Julian Riedel (12th), Elversberg could hope for the next big step towards promotion to the second division until shortly before the beginning of the final phase.
But the Waldhöfer surprisingly managed to turn things around with a double strike with goals from Fridolin Wagner (71st) and Adrien Lebeau (72nd).
