In 2022, there were 176,026 prospective tenants on the waiting list for social housing in Flanders. That is 3.5 percent less than the 182,436 the year before. This is the biggest decrease since 2011, according to figures from Flemish Minister of Housing Matthias Diependaele. Yet, according to the N-VA minister, there is still “no room for euphoria”. “We will therefore continue to work on a wider range of social housing,” says Diependaele.
