Wagner boss complains about lack of ammunition in war and thanks helpers

MOSCOW (dpa-AFX) – The head of the Russian private army Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, once again complained about a shortage of ammunition in Moscow’s war against Ukraine, which the military disputed. “I am concerned not only about the ammunition and hunger for cartridges for the private military company Wagner, but for all departments of the Russian army,” Prigozhin said in a text and audio message on Friday. “My boys are demanding ammunition.” At the same time, he thanked Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and manager Igor Nasenkov for providing ammunition.

The Russian army repeatedly claims to have enough ammunition for the war in Ukraine. Western military experts also doubt this. Prigozhin has been drawing attention to bottlenecks for months and has already blamed the Russian military leadership for the deaths of Wagner fighters because they did not have enough ammunition.

Manturov, who is also Minister for Industry and Trade, and Nassenkov, who heads the Technodinamika holding in the state-owned Rostec group, have now taken care of the ammunition deliveries. “I thanked Manturov and Nasenkov for heroically doing what was impossible to do – they increased the production of ammunition dozens to hundreds of times. And now it is being produced in large numbers, providing all the necessary requirements.”/mau/DP/ngu
