…better and better!
The 2010 West Asia Championship is now available with all detailed information in the Database of Transfer market. In the final, Kuwait won 2-1 against Iran. Already in the ninth minute of play, Aziz Mashaan scored 1-0. Team colleague Yousef Nasser increased to 2-0 with the half -time whistle. Milad Meydavoudi’s connection goal did not change anything at the game outcome, and so the Kuwait was able to celebrate its first and so far only title in this competition.
Originally, the tournament was to be held in Lebanon, but was moved to the Jordanian capital Amman due to the domestic situation in the country. All nine members of the West Asian Football Association (Waff) were eligible to participate. The teams from Kuwait and Bahrain were there for the first time. The nine teams first played a group phase with three teams in one group. All group winners and the best runner -up qualified for the semi -finals.
The former coach of SV Werder Bremen Wolfgang Sidka failed with the Iraq in the semi -finals on Iran. With Ehsan Hajsafi, another professional with experience in Germany took part in the tournament. The Iranian played in the 2015/16 season in the 2nd Bundesliga for FSV Frankfurt.
