Wa did Aon go with carnival? That question has often been asked in the last days and some partygoers prefer to change Pèkske every day. In Den Haaykaant, various original gems walked around on Saturday, from Tompouce to a successful gathered outfit. That way everyone turned out to be beautiful anyway. For inspiration you will find here five dressed portraits.

F35 Fighter Pilot of the Wringersgat Squadron
No, he is not a real fighterus pilot. Although in these uncertain times you would like the street to fill it up. Christiaan is not just a fighterus pilot, he is one of the Wringersgat Squadron, or from Rijen. “There they go really hard,” he laughs. Together with his family, he came to Den Haaykaant (Raamsdonk) for the parade. Last year he also walked in this outfit that was made especially for him. His father was once with the Air Force, he was the last commander there until he made way for the new commander of the air forces. “For me, carnival is to be and being someone else, I really like it when people do their best for their outfit and stay in their role. There is no more fun party than Carnival.”

‘Beautiful Girl’ Monique
Lovers of ‘Winter full of love’ recognize this celebrity immediately with her ‘Beautiful Girl’ on her arm. Her submissive son Mike who was looking for a friend in the TV program is missing. The outfit comes directly from erroreskijas.nl. In real life her name is Joyce and works at a primary school in Waspik. “I brought the dog from the doll’s corner,” she laughs. For her, carnival mainly means fun. “With the parade in Den Haaykaant on Sunday and a pub crawl in Waspik on Monday. Then we will start at 9 a.m. and then we go all the bars.”

Gandalf and a creative mess
“I am a junk picked up,” Bianca from Made explains her outfit. “And we are not an ANWB set.” Her husband Bart is dressed as ‘something’ and as Gandalf the Gray, from the film Lord of the Rings. He does not live carnival there that way, but Bianca does. Yet he faithfully goes out with her. His wife took care of his outfit. “My daughter -in -law said: You have to go as a Gandalf. Bianca would arrange the suit. The beard took her the most trouble,” he laughs with a wink. The stick was also put together by his wife. “She has all kinds of creative ideas, she comes up with everything. And then something like that comes out, the light even has a solar panel.” The couple has been together for almost forty years, they have four children he talks about with a big smile. “That is so much fun, there is nothing as beautiful as everyone is together. That will happen on Sunday at the parade of Raamsdonksveer, Leugten man!”

Loes Tompoes
It can be a bacon, or such an old -fashioned foam block whose sugar is really sticking to your teeth. But no, Loes is a tompouce. “Actually, mainly because it merses on top of each other,” she laughs. She lives in Rotterdam but is originally from Raamsdonksveer. “I come here to celebrate carnival every year and then I try to come up with a suit every year.” This morning she ate a Tompouce and she knows it is a challenge to eat. “But if you put it on its side, you can easily cut it into pieces,” she gives us as a golden tip.

Maastricht
It is a slightly different genre than we are used to in Brabant, but Bianca from Geertruidenberg is originally from Maastricht. Partygoers in the Limburg capital are known for being dismissed. “I always try to make something of it again. I bought this dress on Marktplaats and a bit. I had already went as a candlestick of Belle and the Beast. I always do something with make -up, that’s typically Limburgish.”

She moved to Geertruidenberg in 1992 because of the Air Force, where she works as a techie. “But I certainly like the carnival here as in Maastricht. Although I had to get used to the clothes here in the first years, that has since improved much.” Her daughter is also a big fan of carnival, she walked along during the procession of Den Haaykaant. “Yes, I am very proud of what they have put down again. We also had to stick with it last week because a lot had to happen.
