Rolf Schulte is no longer the trainer of VZV after this handball season. The premier league team from ‘t Veld announces that the collaboration will end after five years.
Schulte, 53, has been employed by VZV since 2017. Before that, Schulte was a trainer of Vido from Purmerend. In his period at VZV, European handball was achieved in four of the five years. This season is going a lot less and the club is involved in the battle for relegation.
“Together with the player, we extensively evaluated the current season and it emerged that most of them needed a new face for the group. Of course Rolf himself was very disappointed, but he also always said that a trainer is just a passer-by,” says Irene Klaver on behalf of the board of VZV.
“We have experienced great moments with Rolf. In the first year we immediately made it to European handball”, Klaver continues. “It was not so much the lesser results of this season that we ended the cooperation. We therefore choose to let Rolf finish the season. We are confident that we will not be relegated.”
VZV will consider a successor for Schulte in the coming weeks.
Relegation battle
This season, the team from ‘t Veld is in a disappointing tenth place after nineteen games. If the club finishes in places nine to twelve, it means that it will play in the relegation pool at the end of the season. The next game of VZV is on March 11. Then the away match against Volendam is on the program.
