Vyvey/Van Zandweghe remain in the running for the Olympic Games

The three other Belgian boats that came into action did not advance to the semi-finals.

Tibo Vyvey and Niels Van Zandweghe finished third in their series thanks to a strong final sprint. With the eighth fastest time they make a shot at the A-final. The Belgians must finish in the top seven (win a place in the A-final or the B-final) to qualify for the Games.

Marlon Colpaert finished fourth in his quarter final of the light single scull. He had to make top three for the semifinals. In the open category, Tim Brys also finished fourth in his series. He too had to finish in the top three to reach the semi-finals and maintain a view of the top nine, which is required for Paris.

Brys continues the tournament with the battle for places 13 to 24, just like Colpaert and the double sculls Aaron Andries and Tristan Vandenbussche. They finished sixth and last in their quarterfinals. Top 11 was needed for them. The rowers will later have two more chances to force an Olympic ticket, in April next year in Szeged, Hungary, and a month later in Lucerne, Switzerland.
