Vyvey and Van Zandweghe take silver in Piediluco

The duo took silver in the heavy double sculls and only had to tolerate the Italians Luca Chiumento and Nicolo Carucci, who also managed to win on Saturday. It is the first convincing result of the brand new duo. Vyvey and Van Zandweghe were faster than boats from Greece and Ireland, the Olympic champion in Tokyo and Olympic vice champion in Rio respectively.

Marlon Colpaert and Aaron Andries finished fifth in the A-final of the double-two. Vyvey took his second medal this weekend, after taking gold in the light scull on Saturday.

Also on Sunday, Tim Brys, Gaston Mercier, Ward Lemmelijn and Tristan Vandenbussche finished in 5th place in the A-final of the double-four. Italy won the race. In the women’s category, Caitlin Govaert finished second in the single scull in the B final. She had to acknowledge her superior in the Italian Stefania Buttignon.
