A wild chase ended on Thursday morning in Berlin-Tegel with several injured police officers.

At around 5 a.m., police officers wanted to check the driver of a VW bus on the A111 when he resisted and rammed several police cars and ambulances as he fled. According to BZ information, six officers were injured.

“We wish the injured colleagues all the best and hope that the operation will not leave any lasting marks,” said GdP spokesman Benjamin Jendro on the incident. “Unfortunately, in recent years, it has developed into a trend that people are quite happy to evade police measures and accept serious injuries to people in the process.”

The escape finally ended in Berliner Strasse. According to initial information, the man did not open his vehicle to the officers, so the driver’s side had to be smashed. The driver fought back as best he could, and the police finally had to handcuff the man.

The driver was temporarily arrested. The police are now investigating the background to the incident.
